Eliane Menzel, born and raised in Germany, is an award winning violinist based in New York City. She has earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Manhattan School of Music and holds a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School. Her passion for music developed in her early childhood; growing up in a musical family she was sourounded by music from an early age. Her journey began at the pre-college division at the Academy of Arts Bremen where she was a student of Prof. Katrin Scholz. In addition she was a member of the national German Youth String Orchestra for eight years. She went on to serve as the concertmaster from 2014-1018 performing on concert tours as well as CD productions throughout Europe. In 2015 she did a broadcast production of S.Saëns, Rondo Capricciso at the NDR Hamburg which was transmitted in 2016. In the same year she won the 1st prize at the VIII International competition "Szymon Goldberg".
In 2017 Eliane Pinchas Zukerman at the “Young Artist Program” festival in Ottawa, Canada. She went on to attend the Manhattan School of Music in the "Zukerman Performance Program" with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec from 2018-2022. After the completion of her Bachelor of Music degree she studied at the Juilliard School of Music with Joel Smirnoff and earned her Master of Music degree in 2024. She has been a DAAD scholarship recipient from 2022-2024 and is part of the Gluck fellowship 2023-2024. In January 2024 Eliane was awarded 1st prize at the Ann & Charles Eisemann International Young Artists Competition for Strings.
She has attended Festivals such as the "Young Artists Program", the “Heifetz International Music Institute", the “Keshet Eilon Mastercourse“, the “Geneva String Academy”, “Domaine Forget” and the “ Allegra Festival”. During these festivals she studied with Rachel Podger, Rainer Honeck, Silvia Marcovici, Igor Ozim,Hagai Shaham, Shmuel Ashkenasy, Ilya Kaler and Itzhak Rashkovsky.
As a soloist Eliane Menzel has performed with orchestras such as the Oldenburger Schlossorchester, Kammersinfonie Oldenburg, MainKammerorchester Frankfurt, the Ensemble Bremen-Frankfurt, the Oldenburg State Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has also performed at the German Embassy in Ottawa and in the German Embassy in New York as well as in Weil Hall, Carnegie Hall.
Eliane is co-founder and artistic director of the “Schlosskonzerte Neuenburg” series along with her father, oboist Fabian Menzel. This concert series takes place in the Neuenburg Castle in their hometown in Germany with numerous performances every year. At the beginning of the pandemic they have started to livestream the concerts on YouTube, they can be found on the KulturFriesland channel. Their repertoire presents music from baroque to modern style, including world premieres of Compositions commissioned for them.
